I think you’ve got it.
I try to follow the research of Everett Rodgers who said there were five essential influencers in our decision to adopt or reject new ideas:
Relative Advantage the degree to which an idea or product is perceived as better than the existing standard
Compatibility how much the idea is a logical extension of the status quo.
Complexity (or simplicity) how easily people can understand the new idea or use the product.
Trialability is the degree of effort involved in implementing the new concept or experimenting.
Observability how discernable the results are to people trying the idea.
When all the factors are met, ideas are far more likely to be widely adopted — that’s when I’d decide to go mainstream!
